Easy Summer Hair Trends

Zara, the Spanish apparel and accessories retailer, is a great source for style inspiration. They post beautiful editorials on a regular basis and the stylized head to toe looks are always so inspiring. After perusing the website the other day I came across a couple of fun hair styles that looked easy enough to test out for the summer.

When less is more

Kona, Hawaii

I’ve noticed that there has been a strong push towards minimalism in our culture over the past couple of years and after watching the documentary Minimalism: A documentary about the important things, over the holidays, I started to think about my own purchasing habits and the constant advertising that we are faced with encouraging us to buy anything and everything.

Plant-ifying my home

Greenery that lives on top of our bedroom cabinet (notice the lack of orchids on the left )

I love the look of plants inside of a home. I feel like everyone should bring a bit of nature into their living space . When we first moved into our current home we had two plants in total (sadly, one didn’t make it past the first couple of months..RIP little tree plant). Over the past couple of months i’ve picked up a couple more green friends and was lucky enough to walk away with two succulents from a wedding a couple of weeks ago. Here are a few more images of how i’ve injected some plant friends into our space. Continue reading

The Easiest (natural) DIY Lip Scrub

IMG_20160619_194634~2.jpgWhen it comes to makeup I usually like to take a more natural approach to my everyday look but when it comes to lipstick, I gravitate towards bright and bold shades (Nars’ Jungle Red and MAC’s Girl About Town are two of my favorites). A bold lip can be an instant mood lifter but one of the annoying things that comes along with wearing lipstick all day is dry and chapped lips. This has always been one of the problems that has plagued me while wearing lipstick and since i’m trying to incorporate more natural beauty products into my life, I decided to try and create my own scrub from scratch.

Wedding Guest Dress-ing

The quiet before the storm during my wedding at George restaurant

I got married last summer and while I loved looking for my dress and planning all of the little details ( I was a crazy lady and decided to create all of the bouquets and table arrangements) it was a lot of work..and stress.

My husband and I both agree that while we had an amazing time, we are happy that it is now behind us so we can just enjoy being married. I have a wedding coming up later on in the summer, which I am attending as a guest, so I am really excited to go dress hunting. I started my search online and have found so many beautiful options. Take a look below…

Instagram is one of my favorite forms of social media. You can follow along with your favorite celebrity, see what trends are up and coming in fashion and it’s also a great way to discover new talent- whether it’s a new blogger, designer or visual artist. I recently came across three artists that I became really interested in. The modern pieces by the artists below utilize fashion and celebrity culture to create fun and captivating images.

Two stylish ways to deal with window privacy in your home

Privacy without the loss of light  (Photo: Emily Henderson)

One of our neighbors recently cut down a huge tree that was situated in their backyard. Now, I’m always sad to see a tree get chopped down but I was especially upset because this tree provided a lot of privacy for our loft. My husband and I have three large windows in our bedroom and this particular tree provided a good amount of coverage for us when our shades were rolled up. Now that the tree is gone, we can see straight through into the windows of the building across the street. We’ve been keeping our shades closed since then but after searching relentlessly on google I discovered two stylish options that would provide us with the privacy we need but also allow the sunlight to stream through our windows.
